Webinar held on Why it is important to impose a specific tax on tobacco products

A webinar on ‘Why it is important to impose a specific tax on tobacco products’ was held on April 21, 2021 at 11 AM through the meeting software Zoom. Bureau of Economic Research (BER), Dhaka University and Bangladesh Network for Tobacco Tax Policy (BNTTP) jointly organized the webinar.

Former chairman of the National Board of Revenue (NBR), Professor. Md. Nasir Uddin Ahmed chaired the webinar and keynote presented by  Dr. Rumana Haque, Professor of Economics, Dhaka University and Convener of the Technical Committee of BNTTP. Honourable Member of  Bangladesh National Parliament (Sirajganj-2) Prof. Dr. Md. Habibe Millat MP; Director-Research (Deputy Secretary) of Health Economics Unit Md. Nurul Amin; Technical Adviser of The Union Advocate Syed Mahbubul Alam and Special Correspondent of The Bangladesh Post Nurul Islam Hasib jointed as a panel speaker in the webinar. 67 participants attended this webinar from different organizations across the country.
